New Equipment for Gardening Club
The Gardening Club were awarded their new coldframe today.
The school is the lucky recipient of a 5ft high cedar coldframe, thanks to a grant from the North of England Horticultural Society, in association with Woodpecker Joinery UK Ltd.
Ms Fegan, who runs Gardening Club, applied for the grant back in the summer. Despite unprecedented interest, the club were lucky enough to be awarded a Fresh Start package which includes the coldframe, as well as seeds, growing equipment and simple instructions on how best to engage in a range of gardening activities and projects relating to curriculum outcomes.
The Fresh Start is a new award, aimed at encouraging schools and colleges in becoming involved with horticulture through hands-on activity and based upon horticultural projects as part of the national curriculum.
We are looking forward to seeing what the students will grow with all their new equipment.
