Year 10 London Trip

On 22nd June, forty Year 10 History and English students visited The Globe Theatre in London, to support their GCSE studies. Whilst there, they participated in a tour of the theatre and were lucky enough to see professional actors rehearsing for a performance due to take place that evening. They then attended a lecture about the history of The Globe and the development of theatre in Elizabethan England, which will feature as a case study on one of their GCSE History exam papers next year. After a picnic in the sunshine by the river Thames, the students participated with great enthusiasm, in a Macbeth drama workshop. This gave them a great insight into the play (one of their GCSE texts for English Literature) as a performance piece, and was a very enjoyable workshop. We then walked along the bank of the Thames to the London Dungeons where students experienced the History of London told in a dramatic, and at times terrifying, way. An interesting and enjoyable day was had by all involved, and all students were a credit to the school.
