Science Visit to Sir John Deane's

On the 17th October, the science department took 60 Year 10 students to Sir John Deane’s College.

On the 17th October, the science department took 60 Year 10 students to Sir John Deane’s College; they were all students studying triple science. This visit gave them a fantastic opportunity to enjoy lessons in a college environment as well as day to day life on a college campus; eating lunch in a canteen and the opportunity to visit Starbucks were particular highlights!

From an academic point of view, Sir John Deane’s are able to offer activities that they wouldn’t normally be able to experience, such as the use of lasers and diffraction gratings, colorimeters to determine light absorption and what the potential yield of an ore would be. It gave them a great insight into the benefits of studying science at a higher level.

The students all conducted themselves fantastically well and were a real credit to the school. Staff at the college commented on how well behaved and well mannered they were.
