Gardening News

The gardening group at Middlewich High School have been busy Harvesting crops in the school garden.

The gardening group at Middlewich High School have been busy Harvesting crops in the school garden. In the spring we planted potatoes which have produced a bumper harvest, as well as courgettes and tomatoes.  In previous years, the students have grown a successful crop of pumpkins but this year the group have attempted one giant pumpkin. We now have a monster pumpkin growing on the school grounds!

The group have also filled in a small pond to create a future wildflower bed. This has involved barrowing huge amounts of soil, so a lot of physical effort and hard work has been required from the team.

The school apple trees have been picked and the fruit sent to the design technology Department; baking and dessert apples will be incorporated into recipes during Food technology lessons. The students have also been picking raspberries.

If you are interested in gardening, please join us in the science garden through SC1 on Thursdays at lunch time.
