Excellence in Learning – Achievement for All

Year 10 Enrichment day at Sir John Deane’s College

Find out how our Year 10 Separate Science students got on on their trip to Sir John Deane's College.

At the beginning of October, Middlewich High School students studying GCSE Separate Science spent an informative and enjoyable afternoon visiting Sir John Deane’s college.

Students experienced student life by having lunch in the college canteen.  Staff at the college then took the three groups of students to spend time in the Physics, Chemistry and Biology departments.

The students experienced an AS taster lesson including a practical session.  This involved light and lenses in Physics, Chemical analysis in Chemistry and the study of ecosystems and diversity in population in Biology.  The college staff were assisted during the lessons by former Middlewich High School students. It was especially nice for the visiting students to see how the former pupils were coping with college life and their A level studies.

Our Year 10 students gained a lot from the afternoon and the science department hope to revisit the college in the near future.
