Excellence in Learning – Achievement for All

Creative Textiles

If you enjoy practical work, designing and making in a textiles workshop environment, then this is the right course for you. You will be able to develop your ability to work in textiles, as well as gain practical experience in teamwork within a workplace environment.

If you tend to achieve more when focusing on practical outcomes, you will find this course enjoyable as there is less written work involved and no exam. However, you will have to produce a report.

Course Content

To gain this qualification, you will have to plan, research and carryout a design and make project.

Your design outcome will be an aspect of Textiles i.e. print, batik, costume design etc.

You  may  be  able  to  work  with  local  primary  schools  or  nurseries  or  visit  other educational establishments as part of your research.

Benefits of the course are that you will:

  • Develop as an inquisitive and independent learner
  • Be inspired by new areas and/or methods of study
  • Learn new techniques of working in wood
  • Develop, where appropriate,  as  an  e-confident  learner  and  apply  appropriate technologies in your studies.

There may be an opportunity to design and make costumes for future school productions.

Accreditation

On successful completion of the course you could be awarded with a Level 1 or 2 Project Qualification.

Assessment

The  Project Qualification  has  no  exams,  just  coursework,  so  if  you’re  self-motivated  and  enjoy working independently, whether in a practical way, like designing  or researching, investigating and writing, then the PQ is for you.

You will design and make an item to answer a given problem. You will also have to produce a written report or research folder to accompany your project.
